about

Way back in the day Gregory brought me in to play some leads on this tune. Being very young, and having very limited time to prepare, I did the best I could. But now, after all the passing of years, what a great opportunity to kick this in the ass! Putting leads down on this tune really stretched my game... and thanks to David McLean for the innovative, beautiful and haunting compositional lead work in the mid-section of Nethersong. Another influence over time that made me want to achieve...

lyrics

Nethersong

Once in a great land far across the Nile
A celebration for the Netherworld.
And in a ring of pharaohs chanting song,
Electric power sounded back

And from the Circle singing for the dead,
A dreaded name was released
The Pharaohs died in the sight of Him
Their cities fell to decay in a day

From the Circle, a name came forth
The Tear of Vissalage – The cries of fear
The forests died into a desert plain
Enslaved, they never had a chance – to see the light

Caught up in the new world – He took control
He built up temples to His name.
In perfect shapes of power, they rose to the sky
So many fell in His wake.

But soon the balance fell - the time was wrong
So many things that could not be
Called back to the Netherworld – Logically
His time is soon – His song returns
- TECHNOLOGY -

You know the nursery rhymes; you’ve done the readings
You have seen the future in tea leaves
You think sodium-chloride transferred across your scapular
Will ward off evil spirits?

I am here… BEHOLD
I am the alter the only forgiving way
I am the laughter of every child never saved
I am an unwilling intrusion into your domain
I’m the reason you falter
I am another way

Every age must pass away
And surrender to decay
Every pattern rearranged
In quantum disarray we fade away
Entangled with the strange

In every life there will be that moment
When the question of the end is at hand
Back into the deep and realigned
We never had a chance
“We have suffered an Ancestral Domain Change”

Dreamt and left in the winter of 1986 by Gregory.
Resurrected by Adam, David, and Malachi in the winter of 2012
Two months before the end of the world, they say…
